Terms of Service

These Terms are the agreement between you and Think Ribbon ("Think Ribbon", "we", "us", or "our"). They cover the Think Ribbon website and mobile app, which we call "the Service" below.

Creating an account or using the Service means you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't accept them, don't use the Service.

1. Who can use Think Ribbon

  • You have to be at least 13 years old, or older if your country sets a higher minimum.
  • If you're under the age of majority where you live, you can use the Service only with a parent or guardian involved who agrees to these Terms.
  • You have to follow these Terms and the laws that apply to you.

2. Your account

You sign in with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. You're responsible for:

  • Giving us accurate information and keeping it current.
  • Keeping your account and login details secure.
  • Everything that happens under your account.

Tell us as soon as you can if you think someone else got into your account. You can delete your account from your settings whenever you want.

3. What you can't do here

You agree to follow our Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms. Don't use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, or impersonate anyone, or post content that's hateful, illegal, or infringing.
  • Spam, manipulate ratings or engagement, or flood the Service.
  • Post automated or AI-generated replies or comments aimed at other people. Automating posts of your own content is fine. Automated or AI-written responses to other people are not.
  • Reach the Service through unauthorized automated means, scrape it, or interfere with how it runs or with its security.
  • Work around moderation, bans, or any other enforcement.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Any user can report a post, article, review, comment, or account from the "..." menu on that item. Any user can block another account from that account's profile, which hides the two accounts from each other and can be undone in Settings > Blocked accounts. We review reports, remove objectionable content, and suspend or remove the accounts behind it, normally within 24 hours of a report. You can also reach us directly at privacy@thinkribbon.com.

4. Your content

You own what you make. Posts, articles, reviews, comments, ratings, lists, and anything else you submit stay yours.

We still need permission to show your content to the people you're sharing it with and to run the platform. So you grant Think Ribbon a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, reformat, and distribute your content, only to operate, provide, and promote the Service. That license:

  • Exists for those purposes and nothing else. We will never sell your content, and we won't use it in outside advertising without asking you first.
  • Ends when you delete the content or your account. Three exceptions: copies sitting briefly in routine backups, content other people have already shared, quoted, or interacted with, and anything we have to keep to follow the law or settle a dispute.

You're responsible for what you post. By posting it, you're confirming you have the right to and that it doesn't break these Terms or anyone else's rights.

5. Feedback

Send us an idea, a suggestion, or feedback about the Service and we can use it freely to make Think Ribbon better, with nothing owed to you.

6. What we own

The Service itself belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. That covers the software, the design, and the Think Ribbon name and branding. Game information such as titles, cover art, release dates, and similar details comes from IGDB and other third parties and stays the property of whoever owns it. Outside your own content and what these Terms or the law allow, you can't copy, modify, distribute, or build derivative works from the Service.

7. Services we rely on

Think Ribbon runs on services we don't control: Convex (backend and sign-in), UploadThing (image hosting), Resend (account emails), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Sentry (error monitoring), IGDB and Twitch (game data), and the game store and community accounts you choose to connect, such as Steam, GOG, Epic Games, Discord, and PlayStation. Those services have their own terms and policies, and we're not responsible for them.

8. Moderation and enforcement

To keep Think Ribbon safe and useful, we may review, remove, hide, or restrict content. We may also warn, put in read-only mode, suspend, or ban accounts that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to protect the community, other users, or Think Ribbon.

We try to be fair and to match the response to the problem. If you think we got it wrong, email privacy@thinkribbon.com and we'll look at it again.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using the Service and delete your account whenever you want. We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if the law requires it, or to protect the Service or other users. When your account ends, the license in Section 4 winds down the way that section describes, and the parts of these Terms that should outlive the account (content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and the like) keep applying.

10. Disclaimers

We work to keep Think Ribbon running well, but we have to be straight with you: the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind about the Service, express or implied, and we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or secure, or that game data and other information will always be accurate or complete. Nothing in these Terms removes warranties or rights that can't be removed under the law that applies to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Think Ribbon will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under the law that applies to you, including your mandatory consumer protection rights.

12. Indemnification

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover us (the legal word is "indemnify") for claims, damages, and expenses that come out of content you post, your misuse of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

13. Copyright and DMCA

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright, email privacy@thinkribbon.com with:

  • A description of the copyrighted work and of the content you say infringes it, with a link.
  • Your contact information.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your information is accurate and that you're the rights holder or authorized to act for them.

We review valid notices, remove or disable infringing content where that's the right call, and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If we removed your content by mistake, you can send us a counter-notice.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

Think Ribbon is still being built, so the Service will change. We'll add features, change features, and sometimes drop them. We may also update these Terms. When we do, the new version goes up here and the "Last updated" date at the top changes, and for significant changes we may tell you inside the Service. Keep using the Service after a change takes effect and you've accepted the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

We'd much rather sort a problem out directly. If you have a dispute with us, email privacy@thinkribbon.com first and we'll make a genuine effort to resolve it.

If that doesn't work, the dispute goes to a court with jurisdiction over it. These Terms are governed by the law of the place the Service is operated from, and that doesn't limit any mandatory rights you have under the law of the country you live in.

16. General

  • The whole agreement. These Terms, the Community Guidelines, and the Privacy Policy are the full agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Severability. If part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce something once, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms. We can transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
